Dr. Maria Roques Escolar, MD

Biography

Dr. Maria Roques is a board-certified pediatrician with a strong background in neonatology, lactation, and child development. Originally from Spain, she completed her medical education, pediatric residency, and neonatology fellowship there before moving to the United States, where she completed an additional pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital Colorado. She previously practiced at Denver Health, where her dedication to supporting families during the newborn period led her to establish a lactation clinic.

Dr. Roques enjoys all aspects of pediatric care, with special interests in newborns, breastfeeding, and child development. She has also worked closely with the Developmental Pediatrics Department at Children’s Hospital Colorado, including focused training in autism. She values building strong, long-term relationships with families and providing thoughtful, evidence-based care.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Roques enjoys the outdoor lifestyle that Vail offers, including skiing and biking, as well as spending time with her husband, two daughters, and friends.
